Dr. Paul Y. Casanova-Romero, who joined Palm Beach Diabetes and Endocrine Specialists in 2012, received his medical degree with honors (Summa Cum Laude) and Doctor of Medical Science (D.M.Sc), from the University of Zulia, School of Medicine in Venezuela. He subsequently joined the faculty of his Alma Mater and in 1998, the Diabetes Prevention Program (D.P.P.) Research Group at Diabetes Research Institute-University of Miami. He completed his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine & Endocrinology (Jackson Memorial Hospital) and graduate studies in Public Health (M.P.H.) with Award of Academic Merit at the University of Miami.

A consulting private endocrinologist and national speaker since 2006, Dr. Paul Y. Casanova-Romero’s extensive research papers on diabetes prevention, thyroid disorders, metabolic syndrome and other endocrine disorders have been widely published. He continues to collaborate in research studies in U.S and Latin-America, the most recently in molecular thyroid testing. Dr. Casanova-Romero is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, as well as in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. He is a current Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (F.A.C.E.) and Fellow of the American College of Physicians (F.A.C.P.). He is currently voluntary assistant professor of Medicine at University of Miami.

Dr. Paul Y. Casanova-Romero specializes in the treatment of thyroid disease including thyroid nodules, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer, parathyroid disease, diabetes, pre-diabetes, lipid disorders, and other endocrine disorders. He has been using molecular testing for characterization of thyroid nodules since 2010. He successfully has fulfilled the requirements for Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (E.C.N.U) to perform in house ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration biopsy of thyroid nodules, parathyroid and neck lymph nodes.

He is membership panel member of the American Thyroid Association, an active member of the Endocrine Society, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the American Diabetes Association, the American College of Physicians, and the National Lipid Association.
