A:

Workshop 1: 9:00am – 12:00pm

Workshop 2: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Workshops may be scheduled all in one day or taken separately. When scheduled separately you will be responsible for two co-payments versus one.

Q: How much does it cost to attend workshops?

A: The cost of workshops is the same as your co-pay when you see a specialist under your insurance plan. If you have any questions regarding insurance coverage please contact your insurance provider.

Q: Are the diabetes workshops covered through insurance?

A:  Yes, most commercial insurance plans as well as Medicare cover the cost of all diabetes education, workshops and nutrition, however you will be responsible for co-payment at the time of visit.

Q: Can I meet with a registered dietitian?

A: Yes, most insurance plans cover 2 visits per year with a registered dietitian. Again, you will be responsible for co-payment at the time of your nutrition visit. A registered dietitian will supply you with a meal plan, review carbohydrate counting, aid in weight loss, teach you foods to consume for better blood sugar control and calculate your appropriate calorie consumption.

Q: Can I meet with a certified diabetes educator?

A: Yes, most insurance plans cover 2 visits per year with a certified diabetes educator. Again, you will be responsible for co-payment at the time of your visit. A certified diabetes educator will teach you how to take your diabetes medications, side effects, proper blood glucose monitoring and aid in ways to manage blood glucose levels.

Q: Does the diabetes workshops provide lunch?

A: No, we do not provide lunch during workshops. You will have a 1 hour break for lunch between 12pm-1pm to either bring lunch from home or go out to a local restaurant. Water and diabetes booklets are provided in class.

A: Please refer to your attached schedule for upcoming dates.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule the workshops?

A: Please call 561-659-6001 extension 8012 to reschedule or cancel an appointment.

Q: What if I do not want to attend the diabetes workshops?

A: Your overall treatment may be compromised without proper education on medications, food, monitoring and exercise. You may not achieve optimal blood glucose levels if you refuse diabetes education.

Q: What are the benefits of attending diabetes workshops?

A: Patients that attend our diabetes workshops have overall lower A1c levels, experience weight loss, have a better understanding of diabetes and how medications affect their body and meet other individuals with diabetes for lasting friendships.
